Teacher Training Objectives
Language teacher training objectives are related to the teacher training course. However, objectives are relatively more specific and ideally measurable in some process. A successful trainee is expected to be capable of exhibiting that he/she has achieved the objectives. He/she is also able to demonstrate what he/she has achieved through the assessment procedures.
After attending the training course, a trainee should be able to show a number of skills as follows:
Firstly, he/she should be able to plan, implement and evaluate appropriate learning experience for his/her learners. He/she
Secondly, he/she will able to gain sufficient knowledge of the theory of language teaching methodology so that he/she can select the right method in a particular situation, based on the analysis of the reasons.
Thirdly, he/she has to have sufficient command of the target language required to develop language teaching materials for his/her learners.
Fourthly, he/she should have the ability to evaluate, adapt, adopt and use language texts and other materials available in the market.
Fifthly, he/she has to have the ability to modify and improve his/her teaching strategies in the light of self-evaluation.
Sixthly, he/she should use a good model of the target language, for example, English in all the necessary communicative situations involved in language teaching.
Seventhly, he/she should have the ability to appreciate a literary text of an appropriate level and subject-matter, and to explain the basis of his/her appreciation.
Eighthly, he/she should have the ability to analyze the social, psychological and educational contexts in which teaching and learning occur.
Finally, a trainee has to be able to undertake sustained autonomous academic responsibilities and duties.
