Diphthongs

 

   Diphthongs:

A diphthong is a combination of two simple vowels one gliding into the other. The English language has eight diphthongs.

     1.      (еІ)  (এই)   as in the words pay, say, lay, hay, may, tray, late.

2.                 (αІ)  (আই) as in the words by, spy, try, shy , lie , tie , hi , cry.

3.                 ( )І )  (ওই, ওয়ই)  as in the words toy, joy, boy, coy.

4.                 (Іә ) (ইও)  as in the words deer, tears, ear.

5.                 (еә)   (এও) as in the words tear, care , air , dear, share.

6.                 (uә)   (উও)as in the words poor ,tour, sure, cure, pure.

7.                 (αu)   (আউ)as in the words how , cow , now , thou, plough.

8.                 (әu)  (ওউ) as in the words go, so ,no, sew, low, blow, grow,    crow, toe, row, motion, most, do.
