Usually Eve-teasing refers to harassment of women and girls by men. In other words, Eve-teasing is a term which simply involves young men annoying or disquieting girls or women by making sexual innuendos against them in public or in work places including parks, campuses, picnic sports etc. The worrying number of girls and women who commit suicide in any particular region of the world including Bangladesh to escape sexual harassment known as Eve-teasing. In Bangladesh, it is a curse for women and girls. Now-a-days, its situation is very severe in Bangladesh. In fact, the entire Indian sub-continent is afflicted with this malaise. It indicates a certain kind of wrong minds of man who harbour no respect for women’s dignity. At present, Eve-teasing is the talk of the town since it has already cost the lives of at least a score of girls as victims in last few months according to a report of a Daily Newspaper. Mainly the victims of Eve-teasing are women, school-girls, college-girls including university female students. Many victims suffer from severe mental trauma as do their family members. Almost everyday, Eve-teasing and harassment are occurring around the country. Eve-teasers include unscrupulous, lecherous, un-conscientious, unprincipled males of the country. Eve-teasing has a dangerous consequence for girls and women in the society. Adolescent girls cannot move freely. They always feel unsecured outside their home. Even a trifle matter leads a promiscuous lover to throw acid on his beloved’s body. Even it results in committing suicide finally. For the prevention of Eve-teasing education system must be premeditated in such a way to promote positive relationship between girls and boys especially at a younger age. Parent’s role is very significant. They should keep their children form bad influences. Teachers must play their role to repeat moral teaching in the young minds in more a rational and modern way. Moreover, the boys should respect the opposite sex. Overall, the most important is the consciousness of the women themselves. In conclusion, the govt. and the authorities concerned of our country should come forward to take pragmatic steps with a view to preventing Eve-teasing from the country.
